- Patchmatch: developed alongside University of Washington and Princeton, Adobe Labs is touting Patchmatch, an assortment of three tools: re-targeting, in-painting, and reshuffling. These tools promise to patch and edit compositions in ways that existing tools such as the clone stamp would prove prohibitive.

- Color mixing: perhaps inspired by the Corel Painter software, CS5 will implement a “wet paint” color mixing feature that simulates actual paint mixing.

- Brush strokes: the real-life painting simulation doesn’t stop at the color mixing. CS5 promises to give users with Wacom tablets the ability to make their marks resemble actual brush strokes with a new effect.

- Puppet tool: this is a popular feature being carried over from Adobe After Effects. The tool allows users to create a kind of “skeleton” by appointing joints on objects and having the image warp around it.

Adobe Labs will certainly add even more enhancements to Photoshop CS5 before its release, but the features announced are already getting users excited.
